Building exciting IL2 missions and campaigns for player enjoyment

  • IL2 Mission and Campaign Building

Missions and Campaigns should be built considering the player for the most enjoyment and excitement.
It needs to be emphasized, the player must be the focus of missions from start to finish. Several things should loom large in your thoughts as you build missions.
Action events in missions should occur when and where the player can enjoy them…
It doesn't benefit the player for action going on all over the map, when the player is somewhere else.

How to make the campfires EXTRA BRIGHT and cover more distance.

1. First you have to be in the Full Mission Builder (FMB)

2. You select an area of the map where you need extra light.

3. The conditions should be set for night time after 20:00 and the screen should be pretty dark.

Night Landing Lights For Airbases
I use the campfire barrels from stationary objects in the FMB to setup night landing light patterns at the airbases I'm using for night missions.
I'm not sure how close this comes to what was really done, by anyone during WW2. I needed to do something simple, yet competent for night landings and takeoffs. I developed this simple method, which may not be unique.
Runway ends:
Basically, I put 5 fires at the two ends of the airbase. They cross the runway at each end. These define the runways pretty clearly.

This article should explain how efficient the Target/Recon can be used within campaigns. Terminating missions can be a problem, especially in campaigns. Proper termination of missions is critical for proper accounting of kills for the player during the missions as well as moving onto the next mission.

Placing the direction objects face can be easier than zooming to 3D mode and then depressing the enter key to zoom in on the object, then look for it an change the direction it is facing.
If you pretty well know the direction you want it to face you may change it without doing the above.
